1. New to Therapy? Start Here.

I’ve never done this before. What actually happens in the first session?
Think of the first session (the Intake) less like "therapy" and more like "mapping." We follow a clear process to ensure you feel comfortable.
  • Review your history: Medical, family, and what brings you here.
  • Set the GPS: You tell us what "better" looks like for you.
  • Check the Vibe: You decide if you feel safe and understood with our expert clinical team.
How do I know if I need Individual or Family Therapy?
  • Choose Individual Counseling: If the primary struggle is internal like anxiety or burnout.
  • Choose Family Therapy: If the struggle involves parenting disagreements or a child acting out.

2. Fees, Insurance, and The "No Surprises" Act

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. Is therapy free?
We are proud to be in-network with BCBSNC. However, your cost depends on your specific plan.
  • Standard Copay: A flat fee (e.g., $25) per session.
  • Deductible: You may pay a contracted rate until your annual limit is reached.
Action Step: Check the back of your card and call the member services line to verify outpatient mental health benefits.
What if I have Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare?
We are Out-of-Network for these plans, but you can likely use your benefits via a Superbill. This is common for residents in Raleigh and High Point who want to work with our specific specialists.

3. Cancellations, Privacy, and Rules of the Road

I work 9-to-5. Do you have evening or weekend slots?
Yes. We offer appointments until 6:00 PM on weekdays and Saturdays from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. These slots are ideal for busy professionals in Lindley Park or Adams Farm.
Are you an LGBTQ+ affirming practice?
Absolutely. We provide a safe, celebratory space for all gender identities and sexual orientations. This is a core part of our mission as a diverse Greensboro counseling practice.

4. For Families Navigating Divorce or Custody

I am divorced. Can I bring my child for therapy without my ex's permission?
In NC, Joint Legal Custody usually requires both parents to consent to healthcare. We require a copy of your custody paperwork before the first session of child therapy.
Will you testify in my custody hearing?
Generally, No. Our role is to be a therapist, not a forensic evaluator. Taking sides in court can damage the therapeutic trust, especially during teen counseling.
